                Bypass It

There once was a Renaissance Friar,

Whose belly was round as a tire.

The pants under his cloak

Were so tight they could choke

His breath intake, which often grew dire.

One day the good Friar decided

To get a bypass, then confided

He hoped that the tuck

Cost no more than a buck,

Cuz that’s all that his co-pay provided.

One year after surgery ended,

Friar’s stomach had shrunk and looked splendid.

But the price that he paid,

For the choice that he made,

Was more painful than Friar intended.

That’s your Saturday Lizlimerick.  Gastric bypass?  More than a nip and a tuck.     Liz

Lizlines, Friday, November 21, 2008

Yesterday a whole handful of Body Firm clients were involved in a style show luncheon.  I had been careful to warn each and every client that diet danger would be lurking everywhere:  Wearing smiles behind serving tables, sauced and sitting in kitchen pots and pans, wrapped deceptively in colorful cellophane tied with ribbon, rinsed and dolloped and dressed, and even recorded on 3x5’s for future reference.

There will be an endless round of similar events beginning the weekend after what used to be the biggest shopping day of the year.  You can go in style…or you can go to eat.

Those are your Fit Friday Lizlines.  Feast on fashion, not on food.     Liz

From S in TX RE:  Body Firm and proven results

That's why I love your program and had success with it.  Not complicated, easy to follow, and SO effective.

Liz says:  Thanks...you're living proof!

From C in TX RE:  General web site comment

Your site is fabulous!  You're doing great work helping people live their best lives!

Liz says: Thank you.  Best is the definitive word...and the goal.

Liz says:  Thanks. That's much better than being asked to "keep it down."

From D in TX RE:  Redistributing the health

I love it!........."for change you redistribute health"!!  If only everyone participated in that!!

Liz says: That would be taxation with visual representation.

From B in MI RE:  New Home Page

I Just Viewed your Web site.  Very, very impressive.  You and Tom look great!

Liz says:  Thanks.  Tom's the Man.

From D in TX RE:  Web site design change

WOW!  What a great new look with the nesting photos doing their Pop-up!  Congratulations on another step in your web redesign.....it's great!

Liz says: Credit to Tom, and thanks, no charge.

From D in TX RE:  Plan ahead for travel

I totally agree with your "travel care" advice......as I now learn I may have a business trip in November and with a spouse who will not be on my program.  It will truly be a test of my "resolve" about my new lifestyle!

Liz says: Business trips:  Public Enemy No. 2; guess what's No. 1!

From S in OR RE:  Annie O'Clee

Bulimia is not a way to stay thin. Not all food disorders involve fat! Thanks for writing about it.

Liz says:  You're right...Annie didn't give life her best shot!

From P. in TX RE:  Exercise your smarts!

Or you could take care of your 4 year old granddaughter and jump with her on the trampoline for thirty minutes several times a day!

Liz says:  Does she make you sign a waiver?

From D. in TX RE:  Cycling picture

Where is the long road by the fence where you are riding??

Liz says:  This is a downhill stretch on Oahu; Diamond Head, not visible, is immediately to my right, the Pacific Ocean is below and beyond the rock wall to my left; in the background you can see a couple of palm tree and the red roof of the lighthouse at Lighthouse Beach where there is a paved public walking trail used by surfers and visitors - all of which looks like a Fisher Price play set when viewed from the top of Diamond Head.  And that's the short answer!!

From M in IA RE:  Making the shoe fit

2 great ones again!!!

Liz says:  Thanks for reading.

From M in TX RE SKYPE

Today's Liz Lines were great!!!  Very clever as usual.

Liz says:  Glad you enjoyed the hype...I mean SKYPE.

From D in TX RE: Working through injury

If it hadn't been for your insistance to come to my lesson while my back was hurt, I probably would still be down.  Thank you for your knowledge on how to keep me on track while injured.

Liz says:  Being up is a good thing...You're welcome.

From E in KS RE:  Twist on ist

Guess I'm a realist.  :-)

Liz says:  Is that the real part or the list part?!

From M in TX RE:  Cashing in on fat

Reality strikes.....Fat slows you down, makes you sick, prevents you from enjoying life to the fullest....gave up the ice cream and gained my life back slowly....who knows what the future will hold but it will be a much healthier one than I thought was possible. Thanks for keeping my goals real and achievable.

Liz says:  Most thank you's need to be shared. How 'bout I share with you?

From D in TX RE:  Cashing in on fat.

You are right, fat isn't funny!

Liz says:  Or fun...!

From M in TX RE:  Filling out wrinkles

The limerick is soooooooo cute. Read it to my husband..he thought it was very clever too.

Liz says:  Strength-training:  The new wrinkle-remover.

From S in TX RE:  Filling out wrinkles

great poem... you're very encouraging ..thank you

Liz says:  By reading and commenting, you also encourage me!

From MA in TX RE:  Grocery receipts

Loved the grocery lists!!! The poem was pretty neat too.
How do you do it?????  Guess it's called inspiration and you definitely have it.
Liz says:  Inspiring my readers is the goal!  Thanks.

From M in TX RE:  ...someone notices you.

Funny you should say this....just this morning at the gym someone
asked me if I had just started coming at a new time or if I was a new member........this was from a man I know in the community who saw me there four days straight this week.  You are right....people notice and you meet new people and make new friends.

Liz says:  Make new friends, and influence the old...sounds like a song.

From J in WI RE:  General comment
...I don't know how you can keep coming up with different analogies, but you do and they are both inspiring and witty.
Liz says:  Thanks.  Just call me a fitwit!

From E in TX RE:  Doing the Good, Bad, Ugly
Thanks for doing those things you don't like!!!! We appreciate you for it. You remind me to keep doing the things I don't particulary enjoy in order to reap the benefits.
Liz says:  Thanks. Now, just exactly what do you not like...?!

We're working every day to improve this site.  Please let us know what you like and what you want.  We will do our best to meet your needs.
