My active vacation

Laura Swofford

My active vacation:  I met 2 of my sisters in upstate NY in October. We spent 2 full days walking thru a number of state parks, enjoying the beautiful fall colors and the spectacular water falls!  Although there was very little cardio involved, I had my pedometer on and found that we walked an average of between 6 and 7 miles each day.  Some of it was climbing slopes or trails to get to the top of the falls.

Being fit and active enables you to truly experience life.   The bicycle is not the only way to be active and enjoy nature but it certainly beats viewing Europe through a window on the bus!

Cycling is an activity that we enjoy and keeps us fit but you don't have to ride the river routes in Germany and Austria; you don't have to pump up and down the hairpins above Capris. Just go around the block on your bicycle and see how it feels. Active can be synonymous with energetic.  We're feelin' great!
