Thirty-five is an important number to remember. If you’re thirty-five years old, you are young enough to text detailed messages faster than your 85-yeal-old counterpart can even remember a phone number, but if your waist to height ratio(WHTR) is at thirty-five percent, you may not live long enough to see texting become outdated. Waist to height is being used more and more as a measurement for being at risk whether your waist is too large, or who-should-think-himself-so lucky, too small. Below are two URL’s for quickly examining the importance of WHTR and a couple of charts you can access by scrolling down on each site. Try to get past the curvy girl wrapped scantily in measuring tapes!! Those are your Wednesday Lizlines. Ken and Barbie are dead, or soon will be! Liz

We witnessed the vernal equinox and an unobstructed Supermoon rising over Texas on Saturday night, the first day of Spring. There were no baying wolves, although we do have them in Texas; there were no new cataclysmic earth/water reactions as the tides came onshore in Hawaii; there was only the steady soft plaintive wail on the wind of women who can no longer use sweaters to cover up the weight they’ve gained over the winter months. Alas, it’s Spring! Those are your Tuesday Lizlines, getting you in the shorts. Liz

If you’re working inside getting ready for the carpet-layer or outside getting ready for spring, use safe lifting technique and a little common sense. Bend your knees and squat before lifting heavy boxes or planters. Use sliders under very large pieces of furniture and be reasonable about how much weight and how many things you try to carry. Reaching, climbing, pushing and pulling are reasonable movements that must be done thoughtfully. Before you begin your heavy work, visualize the whole process in Zen-motion for 30 seconds, then take your time and enjoy the fruits of your hard labor at the gym.

Those are your Monday Lizlines. Have patience but don’t wait. Liz
